Blinds are so convenient to use that they replaced curtains in all offices and many apartments. So how do you remove the blinds, when there a lot of dust on them, and they have to be cleaned or washed? It’s important to understand the design of the joint.
Removing horizontal blinds
Horizontal blinds are popular in apartments. Compact metal blinds are hung on special brackets with a “swallow” type joint. It is easy to remove the blinds. All you need is to move the front and rear part of the upper bar with your finger or a screwdriver, and remove it from the metal clips carefully.
If the blinds are fixed in a different way, then you may need a screwdriver. You can unscrew the bolts using the screwdriver, so afterward you can remove the entire thing from the brackets. If the windows are large, it will be hard to handle on your own, so it is better to call someone for help.
There are also the blinds with plugs or decorative covers on the sides. In this case, you need to remove the plug, then you can easily remove the slats and wash them.
First inspect the upper part of the blinds, take a close look at the bracket to find a way to remove the slats. If there is an instruction, read it. When you take off and clean the slats, make sure that they are not entangled or twisted.
Removing vertical blinds
Vertical blinds are much easier to remove. All of them are hung on the blinds’ pole, in which there is a plug on the side. By removing this plug and pulling out the connecting chain, you can remove all the vertical slats one by one. Depending on design features, you can remove them in a different way. Here is one of the options:
- open the blinds and unfold them so that the slats hang in one line;
- pull out the chain and weights that are at the bottom;
- alternately disconnect the slats, roll them into a roll and send them into the washing machine.
If you still did not get how to remove vertical blinds, you can watch the video instructions. It shows in detail how the slats are removed from the rollers. Plastic loop is slightly lifted and tilted to the side, then pulled out with a fast movement.
Roller blinds
Roller blinds were designed in a way that it would not cause problems in maintenance. It can easily be removed and hung on the window since it is often attached without drilling frames and walls. If you use fastenings, then it is not difficult to understand how the blind is held on them. You need to remove either the roll molding, or the entire structure with the decorative box where the canvas is attached.
If the blind is non-removable and you have to remove the screws, then remove them from the lower bolts and only then go to the upper ones. It helps to prevent the breaking and deformation of the fastening system.
There are blinds, which are fastened with special keys or stickers. They are very easy to remove. Whatever the attachment system is, remember how you take the blinds down, since you still have to hang them back up in reverse order.
